The UN designates the first Monday of October every year as World habitat day. So today is the WORLD HABITAT DAY.

It is intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat. The UN chosen theme Cities and Climate Change this year.

Densely populated cities with huge economic activity are vulnerable to climate change. Average per capital carbon emissions are higher in the metrolpolitan cities of India. Many city corporations are reducing carbon emissions, using green technologies.
So it appears that while urbanisation and climate change are inextricably related, some attempts are being made by Indian cities to cope with carbon emissions.
The World Habitant Day is an appropriate occasion to look at the efforts being made in India with regard to this and improve awareness of the effects of climate changes on the urban populace.
