GRANNY'S HINTS
In India, people normally take self medicine to overcome the temporary irregularity in health and most of them take herbal related medicines which have nil side effects. In particular, some of the tips may also help the new generation grandmas and grandmas to handle the situation in a better manner, if they take care of grandchildren. These tips are applicable to health related issues and other areas also.
Some of the HINTS are for ready reference:
= To sop your child's vomiting bouts, roast a handful of boiled rice on the griddle or tawa to slightly brown. Then boil this brown rice in a cup of water for about 5 minutes and extract the water in a cup. Make the child to drink this water and the vomiting will stop in few minutes.
= High fever among infants can be controlled by rubbing their heads gently with a little ghee at regular intervals. This will reduce the temperature of the child and you can carry the child to the nearest nursing home or hospital for treatment.
= While give Head bath with shampoo to your grandchildren, apply a line of Vaseline just above the eyes of the child to keep away the shampoo and water dripping into the eyes of the child.
= It is recommended to use dropper rather than a spoon to give liquid medicines or tonics to infants. This is easier and less messy.
= When you are trying to pass thorough a large crowd with a child, it is always better to keep the child to your left. The crowd from the opposite direction may or may hold the children to their left side. This will help to reduce the pressure to the child and you can pass through the crowded place with lesser time .
