It is interesting to note that the flight fare for infants varies tremendously between different airlines. An infant ticket is for infants aged between 1 week and 2 years old and they will not occupy a seat. An infant have to travel with at least one adult and there will be a bassinet provided for the infant to sleep. I know most of the time the moms will end up having them in lap, so why is Cathay Pacific airlines charging so much for an infant ticket?

For a Cathay pacific flight from SFO to Hongkong to Chennai, the rates for infant is about 50% of adult fares while in Emirates and Lufthansa it was around $170.00 - $200.00. And the good thing about emirates is that there is one 50pounds baggage allowance while in Lufthansa one has to pay for that infant baggage. My choice would be to travel in emirates as I have heard excellent reviews about their services. This message is for all the new parents who are planning to travel with their infants in international flights. Always cross check with couple of airlines and then book your tickets, you may end up in a good deal.

Is there any proposal in America, to increase the age limit of an infant. If the age can be increased to 55, how nice it would be.
