Government of India launched the UID through Planning Commission to bring alll the citizens under the data base. This ID card will help the Govt. as well as public in all walk of life. Most of the benefits and incentives shall be routed through this card to the beneficiaries.

As on today, total cards issued are lesser than the target. So the crowd is less and centres also less numbers. We can expect a good response in the coming months and it is advisable to get the card at the earliest. Most of the cities and tier II cities like Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai, tirunelveli, Vellore etc have the centres to handle this card. One of the agent is Karvy Consultants, IOB, SBI (Selected branches), NSDL offices etc.
Everyone should carry a single documents or multiple documents to prove their phot identity, address proof, date of birth. Passport or driving license will satisfy the requirement. If date of birth document is not available, one can give the voters id or ration card for the same as age proof. Photo copy or copies of the documents with Originals should be carried when the person visits the office for UID. Application form need to be filled and enclose this or these documents and wait for the turn to capture your photo, bio metric of four fingers and thumbs alongwith your eyes. An ack. will be issued to you for the same. You will get the card within4 to 6 weeks.
