Subsidy for electric vehicles

Postby vsncas » July 20th, 2011, 10:41 am

MNRI - Ministry of New & Renewable Energy offers subsidy for elctrical vehicles owned by the private owners. SAP Labs, Whitefield advocates this policy to their employees and extended advance payment of the subsidy to the employees and get the reimbursement from the Ministry. The subsidy range varies from Rs.62000 to Rs. 82000 per vehicle. Almost it is a saving of 20% of the cost of the vehicle.

Why not others also opt this scheme and familiraise ?

Leave alone the subsidy. If an electric vehicle is available at the cost of a petrol vehicle, and the cost of maintaining the batteries is on par with the cost of petrol, then people will automatically buy. Electric vehicles are noiseless, smokeless, and so many features are there. Nissan has come out with an electric car. I heard that in Europe, many company have introduced electric vehicles. My doubt is that if only the oil traders are blocking the usage of electric vehicles in a big way.
