Response from the public is very poor and publicity to this scheme are not made efficiently to reach the message to the public. Some of them knew that there is a scheme and they donot know where and how to get it.

In Chennai, Karvy consultants are the authorised entity to issue this card and it is free of cost. Their office located in Vijayaraghva Road, Chennai-17.
As per the projection by 31.03.11, the authority should have been issued 10 crore cards, but issued only 2.84 crore card only. This authority failed to encash the opportunity from MGNREGA - rural employment scheme for the distribution of amount. Now, the government also may use smart card issued to the rural population for some other purpose instead of UID.

Parliament is busy with other lot of agendas and they are yet to approve and pass the bill for National Idenctification Authority of India Bill, it may be difficult to make UID numbers pre condition to access government services. The government need to address some vital issues like connectivity etc to make this UID is a successful one.
